Abstract:
ITU’s African Region Preparatory Meeting for the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2010 (WTDC) concluded yesterday in Kampala, Uganda with delegates reaching consensus on regional strategies to foster the development of information and communication technologies (ICTs) throughout Africa. The agreed strategies and priorities will serve as inputs to next year’s WTDC...Taking actions to stimulate investment in the ICT sector emerged as a key theme, especially in broadband networks needed to support the key government and business applications which underpin the entire economy. To this end, panellists emphasized the importance of continued ICT policy and regulatory reform and innovative public-private partnerships.
